Hawaii Personal Injury and Accident Law News and Cases
After years of stubborn refusal, Allstate Insurance Co. recently released hundreds of thousands of pages prepared by a business consultant McKinsey and Co. in the 1990s. Allstate said that the documents which have become known as the McKinsey papers were released to "dispel misunderstanding about the companies policies". Oddly, in releasing the documents Allstate did not mention that Allstate had racked up more than $4 million in fines from a Missouri court and had also had its authority to issue insurance policies in Florida revoked before finally conceding that even Allstate is subject to the country's judicial system. Hopefully courts will more quickly sanction non-compliant insurers in the future and hold them responsible for their conduct.
